I don’t know how I feel about it. It’s kinda like a new Maxima. It’s striking, anf different, but I wouldn’t say it’s pretty.

Why do they have to keep making economical cars so angry and exciting looking? (Not that this prius looks exciting but it does have a ton of angles and non traditional styling)

I used to buy the line about Toyota styling the Prius to look “different” as way to sell the hybrid technology as being “different” futuristic, whatever.

Now I am of the belief that Toyota’s line of thought is more along the lines of “If you want to buy a hybrid from us you’re going to get an ugly fucking car”.

Yeah remember the first gen Prius. It didn’t look all the special, not much different than the Echo. and it also didn’t sell well

It’s as if they looked at the Jaguar XJ’s C-pillar, then sketched it when blind drunk. I’m ok with the Prius as a car (except for the seats. And the steering. And the brakes.), but I’ve never liked the “I’M FROM THE FUTURE I’M SO SPECIAL” styling of any generation. The Lexus CT200H is so much better, and looks like a car, not a statement on wheels.

I remember when the 1st gen came out the styling was actually pretty controversial in the automotive press. It doesn’t look special at all now. I guess you have to remember what most cars looked like in the mid 90s.

It's not exciting. It's revolting. Not sure how they made the jump from boring without a little bit of exciting slipping in, but I guess that's what tiggers (or toyotas) do best.
